South Asia is rich with traditions, values and beauty that makes up a truly enchanting culture. While this is laced within ordinary life, it is particularly present in the unique range of festivals and celebrations, each unparalleled to each other - and weddings are just the place to celebrate!
The Kurmai Ceremony is the official engagement whereby the groom to be is officially welcomed into the brides family.
Just like at the chuni ceremony, a range of beautiful gifts are given at this event.
This event takes place before the wedding, although due to logistical reasons we are now seeing an increase in the ceremony being performed just before the wedding ceremony takes place.
The ceremony is performed by the bride’s father and other elderly male members from the brides family.
